Two of our favourite artists, and Ushuaïa Ibiza residents, Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren have won EDMAs at this year’s prestigious ceremony.
The EDMAs (Electronic Dance Music Awards) is a fan-voted awards show which is part of Miami Music Week and an important industry event in the dance music calendar. They’ve grown from humble beginnings as the Radio Remix Awards in 2016, into an industry institution, celebrating the biggest international artists in dance music.
Global superstar and pillar of the Ibiza scene, Martin Garrix was blessed with the Radio Artist of the Year award, beating big names Alesso and Tiësto. He also won Dance Radio Song of the Year with “Told You So”, his stunning collab with US singer Jex.
On top of these awards, Garrix has been voted the #1 DJ in the World in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll an incredible five times, first securing the top spot at the age of just 20 years old. The Dutch DJ and producer is celebrating his tenth year as a resident at Ushuaïa Ibiza this year. Every Thursday from 19th June to 25th September you can catch the “X” residency; a concept that pays tribute to a decade of his explosive performances at Ushuaïa Ibiza.
The next Dutch dynamo to fly high at the EDMAs was Armin van Buuren. He bagged the Best Radio Show award for A State of Trance, which he hosts every Thursday. The flagship broadcast has been on the air since 2001, and champions the best trance from around the world. The award for Main Stage/Festival Song of the Year also went to van Buuren for his stratospheric collab with Hardwell; “Follow The Light”.
Armin’s influential record label, Armada Music, also took away an award, being voted Record Label of the Year. The imprint, home to ARTY, Joris Voorn, Lilly Palmer and others, came top in a highly competitive field, including Ultra, Spinnin’ and Epic.
