Defected’s Most Iconic Tracks

This summer, Ushuaïa Ibiza celebrates 25 years of Defected every Tuesday. The UK-based record label and event brand has made an undeniable impact on electronic music by consistently redefining the house music sound.

As a label, their output is unmatched. They boast a vast catalogue spanning instant classics, unbelievable collaborations and genre-morphing anthems. To celebrate a summer of house music, we’re revisiting some of Defected’s most loved releases.

Dennis Ferrer - “Hey Hey”

One of the most distinctive and timeless house records of all time. Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey” has found its way into sets by artists as diverse as Sam Divine and Kevin Saunderson. The track’s many remixers include Kitty Amor and our superstar Monday resident, David Guetta, who produced his take under his Jack Back alias for Defected’s 25th Anniversary compilation.

Roger Sanchez - “Another Chance”

New York’s Roger Sanchez has a relationship with Defected going back over 20 years. In 2001, he released his instant classic “Another Chance”, securing the burgeoning label’s first UK No.1 Single in the process.

Storm Queen - “Look Right Through” (MK Dub III)

A testament to the curation prowess of Defected. The original “Look Right Through” was a minor underground hit. When Defected enlisted house legend MK for a remix package his ‘Dub III’ mix was included on the compilation Deep Down and Defected. The inclusion strapped a rocket to the track, which would go on to become a UK No.1 Single.

Midland - “Final Credits”

English producer Midland’s “Final Credits” was a huge dancefloor hit even before its official release. After dropping on Defected’s sister label Classic Music Company, the Gladys Knight-sampling anthem became one of the greatest closing tracks of all time.

Louie Vega & The Martinez Brothers feat. Marc E. Bassy - “Let It Go”

When two eras of house music combine, magic happens. Louie Vega, one of the most prolific house producers of the 20th Century teams with The Martinez Brothers, possibly the biggest names in music from this century. “Let It Go” is a rolling dancefloor weapon and a showcase of the finest in NYC house sensibilities.

Shakedown - “At Night”

One of the early success stories of Defected’s output. “At Night” the 2002 release by Swiss duo Shakedown has become an enduring dance classic. In the two decades since the original release, Defected has enlisted the likes of Peggy Gou and Purple Disco Machine to reinterpret the track to reintroduce it to a new generation of clubbers.

Lee Walker vs DJ Deeon Feat. Katy B & MNEK - “Freak Like Me”

Defected excels at bringing artists together. “Freak Like Me” features the unlikely dream team of Chicago pioneer DJ Deeon, British producer Lee Walker, popstar Katy B and deep house hero MNEK. The result was an undeniable groove that became a Beatport #1, Essential New Tune and won ‘Best Remix’ at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards.

Jamie Jones - “My Paradise”

One of the biggest hands-in-the-air heaters of 2022. “My Paradise” is a love letter to sun-drenched dancefloors, blissed-out vibes and joyful house music. The perfect anthem for Defected at Ushuaïa Ibiza.
